Training Standards have been developed to provide an industry wide standard to a specific area of training for the nuclear industry. They are produced where a training need is identified but a national qualification is not considered to be viable or where a host of in-house training exists and benefits can be achieved by mapping this training to a transferable industry standard.
Organisations can develop their own training courses and the training delivery material is then mapped to the Assessment Criteria of a Training Standard, which gives students clear learning outcomes to the Industry Standard.
They provide the nuclear industry with a transferable approach to industry wide training. The concept of a Training Standard is to enable a consistent industry wide approach to training removing duplication and confusion by providing consistency. They have been developed with industry experts specifying the standard to get the best approach for the sector. A Training Standard can be used by an organisation or training provider to demonstrate that their course meets the Standard via NSANs QA system.
